Explore and Monitor hardware and software

Codima Toolbox is a Network Discovery Tool that automatically creates a database of inventory of Hardware and Software. To exploit the network audit, Codima Toolbox has a best in class Filtering and Analytics system just one click away. Hugely flexible and easy to understand with no limits on field types, including Custom Fields treated the same as standard fields, unlike other solutions.

Overview

On the right side we see options to Analyse and Summarize Software Assets. This menu appears because we are Exploring Software under the Software and Security GUI Tab.
A default format graph as below is displayed.
When selecting a Range of graphs then the following options appear, allowing the selection of Graphs or Grids.

Examples of Explorer Benefits

Boundless options. A few examples. Accounts. Engineers. Security. Maintenance.
  • Accounts

Find the current value of the PCs type XXXX in a room in an office or other location. Boundless options. Show the warranty expirations for a batch of Routers with order number NNNN on campus YYYYY and details of supplier and support details.

  • Engineers

There seems to be a problem with crashing PCs, check which memory chips are used per location and device type, and match the Order Number. Truly deep analytics that is trivial to use. Find support history and support details per device. With Map native integration, click on Map device.

  • Security

Which PCs are missing an Anti-Virus called ‘AVX’. Show PCs that have insecure software running based on any criteria like location or installation date for example. Check whether patches have been deployed and when and where.

  • Maintenance

Which boxes are losing End of Support? Can be focussed per device type, location, order, pretty much anything – massively flexible and scalable that works with all Fields not just a subset as with other solutions. To Analyse and Summarise there is a one click system.

Security

Integrations

This feature also has an extensive ITIL editor, that makes adding details like location, commercials, engineering details and much more a snap. This empowers accountancy, stocktake, engineering and security audits with maximum flexibility, rather than fixed canned reports as in other solutions, however Codima Toolbox can create a new saved report in one click. It is blatantly simple to use.
Find for example all the Windows 7 systems on the Paris, Stockholm, and Rome, Sofia, Auckland, Buenos Aires, New Delhi sites either combined or broken down by Probe locations. Unlimited scalability as probes is fully self-contained storing Data and Delivering compact Information on-demand with parallel processing to assure fast results.

Enterprise Inventory Explorer

With Enterprise Inventory Explorer, that overused expression ‘The World at One’s (Your) Fingertips’ can be made reality using Codima Toolbox Probes and its inventory and asset management software.

The feature Enterprise Inventory Explorer delivers true scalability of deployment and performance extending network discovery and mapping on a large scale. It is based on the concept of an Enterprise View which is edited by the user to create a collection of network views enabled by network topology discoveries. These discoveries can be on the local installation server or on remote probes anywhere in the world. Enterprise Inventory Explorer combines these discoveries anyway the user chooses and produces analyses-based (analytics-based) summation of these discoveries OR shows them individually.
By simply deploying Probes anywhere one chooses, literally in one-click, simple or super sophisticated Filter Matches can be sent to any number of Probes, that will then Extract and Return matching, devices, software, patches, AV Info and display in the genuinely powerful and a cinch to use, graphical and exportable GUI. The probes all run at the same time which means no stacked-up delays. As an example, literally find all the XP boxes all over the world covered by a Probe in typically seconds.

Scalability is in the Codima Toolbox DNA, it naturally and effortlessly scales using its Probe Architecture consisting of typically low cost, but full featured Probes. Keeping Data Local and Information Global.

Using Probes means discovery network expertise can stay local. Additionally, critical ITIL info such as location, warranty, suppliers, valuations also stay local.

Three scenarios using the Enterprise View Manager

Among the benefits of combining network Discoveries on a Single Installation are a single consolidated view and that large discoveries can be broken up into smaller faster ones.

Scenario 1
Scenario 2

Scenario 3

Probes can be used to dramatically increase scalability by deploying multiple Probes throughout a large Enterprise network, or on geographically distributed networks. An Enterprise View could be covering one or more campuses, regions or countries in as many mixes as needed. Views can be set up in minutes to focus on Probes and Discoveries per network function, department, region or country using the product’s network Discovery software. Using a distributed network of Probes can give Tiered Discoveries and Layered Access to Discovery Views. For example, there can be a Local View setup for a local network deployment with a local Manager system. In addition, extra Discovery Views can be setup to give an Inventory overview of a worldwide Probe deployment. Any combination at all, with customer chosen access, controlled by Views on a per Enterprise View basis.
